Kandahaar on December



Mohanlal, after the success of Shikar is a happy man, as the film took an extraordinary opening which enabled it to be hit.

Now he and Antony Perumbavoor is having bigger plans for Max Lab distributed Kandahar, which they are planning to release on December 9.

Major Ravi the director of the film has done hard work and completed the entire shoot of the film in different locations like Ooty, Dehradoon, Mumbai and Pune in a record 28 days. More important he kept to the budget.

Kandahar, has Mohanlal in almost all frames of the film along with Amitabh Bachchan and Ganesh Venkatram. Says Major Ravi: “ Kandahar will be a treat to Mohanlal fans as it moves at bullet speed. Lal ettan is extraordinary in the film.”

Max Lab is planning to release the film in over 100 screens on December 9 and go for a saturation release. It will be Mohanlal’s next release after Shikar, and with no opposition
Kandahar will take an extraordinary opening.

Will Shruthi Hassan do a malayalam film?



Shruthi Haasan, daughter of Kamal Haasan is one of the most promising young actors to have emerged in the last few years.

The latest Buzz in Mollywood is that Shruthi has been approached by director Rajeev Kumar to do a Malayalam film.

Rajeev is one of Kamal’s closest associates and has done Chanakyan many years back in Malayalam with Kamal and Jayaram. Rajeev, whenever he is in Chennai makes it a point to visit Kamal.

Now Rajeev is working on his new film Thalsamayam Oru Penkutty. The story is about a critical look at Malayalam televisions craze for “reality shows”. Rajeev’s story is about the life of a girl transforming into a reality show!

The grapevine has it that Rajeev had narrated the script to Kamal who found it very impressive. Kamal is reported to have told Shruthi to go through the script, where the female character is very powerful.

Renjith Mammootty bonding works!!



Mammootty has always had a soft corner for Renjith, a very gutsy and daring director who makes different type of cinema.

Mammooty has always believed and trusted Renjith who has through his films given Mammootty a new look. Renjith had given Mammootty three superb characters last year in Paleri Manickyam and now Pranchiyettan and the Saint, which is their biggest hit together.

Now Mammootty has asked Renjith to do the role of a film director in his new Martin Prakkat directed Best Actor . Renjith is rumoured to be playing the role of a "real life commercial Malayalam film director" in the film.

Added to that Mammootty has already given dates for Renjith’s production house Capitol Films, to make a commercial masala film with S.Vijayan is directing.

Casanova start rolling!!!



Mohanlal’s long delayed Rosshan Andrrews directed Casanova has started rolling in Dubai. It is going to be a two week schedule in Dubai followed by another two weeks in Bangkok.

Rosshan Andrrews says the story of Casanova is about an “ International businessman and acclaimed charmer, Casanovva to be played by Mohanlal who is an admirer of all things beautiful. No wonder then that the owner of ‘Casanovva’s Eternal Spring’, an international chain of flower boutiques, is always to be seen in the company of the most beautiful women. He has at his beck and call a faithful array of female followers – staff, friends and former girlfriends – who will do anything for him. Awakening envy in all men and romance in all women, Casanovva’s philosophy in life is simple – love cures all. With his penchant for the good life it is little wonder that four enterprising young criminals decide to use him in their quest for some quick money”.

Mohanlal plays Casanovva, which has Shriya Saran, Lakshmi Rai, Sanjanaa, Roma, Jagathy Sreekumar as his faithful assistant and Lalu Alex in a supporting role. Four fresh faces star as the gang who tries to beat the master and four newcomers join in as pivotal female characters.

Kerala Box Office september 17 to 30


The big news at the Kerala box office is that Elsamma has toppled Shikar! In the David and Goliath battle, Lal Jose’s Elsamma Enna Aankutty has collected more in its third week (September 24 to 30) than Mohanlal’s Shikar !
Elsamma Enna Aankutty is clearly the number one as it has become a craze among family and women audiences. Shikar took an extraordinary bumper opening in its first week and collected a distributor’s share of approximately Rs 2.10 crore, but has subsequently slowed.

Elsamma on the other hand took a lukewarm opening but caught on like wild fire and by its third week was able to overtake Shikar, which is now in the second position.

At number three is a very strong Pranchiyettan and the Saint, which is steady and holding on very well, and now can be classified as a hit. The film will cover its production cost and make a profit from theatricals alone.

In fourth place is the Arya: Nayanthara starrer Boss Engira Baskaran, a super hit in Tamil Nadu but very average in Kerala.

Vinayan’s Yakshiyum Njanum is in the last position.

Meanwhile, the next box office chart is sure going to be something as Rajinikanth’s Enthiran released in 128 screens in Kerala on October 1.

Will Arundhathi repeat its success story in Kerala also?



The horror fantasy thriller directed by Kodi Ramakrishna was a huge hit in Telugu and Tamil.

The Malayalam dubbed version is releasing this Friday. Surya cinema who is distributing the film in Kerala seem to be confident about the success as they feel its universal subject, outstanding graphics along with Anushka's performance will bring in the audiences who are looking for a change.

Christian Brothers on Nov 26?



The big question being asked in the trade is whether the Joshy directed multi-starrer Christian Brothers will release this year?

Sources close to producer Subair has confirmed that the film will make it to screens in Kerala by November end. So what happens to the other Mohanlal film Kandahar which has announced a December 9 release?

There is a tug of war going on between Subair and Antony Perumbavoor, over the release of the next Mohanlal film. Antony is vehement that Christian Brothers can release only after Kandahar.

His argument is that originally the Joshy directed Mohanlal film was to release on October 22, but it got postponed as the work was not complete. Antony's point is that you can't now have have back to back Mohanlal releases within a gap of two weeks.

However, producer Subair is clear that his Christian Brothers will release on November 26 and they have already confirmed over 100 screens in Kerala.

Mohanlal who is now shooting for Casanova in Dubai is expected to take a final call on it. He has promised to dub for the film once he comes back towards the end of this month.

It looks like Kandahar will now be pushed to Christmas.

Anwar gets U/A certificate.


Prithviraj's eagerly awaited Anwar directed by Amal Neerad was censored on Tuesday (Oct 12), by the regional censors in Thiruvananthapuram.

The film was cleared by the censors with an U/A certificate with cuts.

The theme of the film based on terrorism is said to be controversial, though the censors feel there is a nice message in the film.

Prithviraj is said to be fantastic in the film which also has Mamta Mohandas, Prakash Raj, Lal and others. The music of Gopi Sundar is already a chartbuster.

Anwar is releasing big as Red Carpet Movies have booked nearly 100 screens. It will be the biggest ever release for a solo Prithviraj film.

Mammootty's voice over Anwar!!!

Mammootty has done the voiceover for Amal Neerad directed Prithviraj's action packed Anwar.

In fact, Mammootty narrates the story in the beginning and ending of the film.

This is the first time in his career that Mammootty is lending his voice for another actor's film.

Mammootty agreed to do the dubbing when Director Amal Neerad and Prithviraj requested him.

Remember Amal Neerad's debut movie Big B had Mammootty in the lead role.

Prithviraj is also maintaining good relationship with the megastar especially after the mega hit Pokkiri Raja.

Allu Arjun’s marriage confirmed





Stlish star Allu Arjun’s marriage with Scient Engineering College owner Shankar Reddy's daughter Sneha Reddy has been confirmed. His father-producer Allu Aravind officially announced that the talks between both families on the alliance were fruitful and the marriage will take place soon after the completion of the shooting of Badrinath. Allu Arjun also conveyed the same through his Facebook.

Confirming the marriage to the media at his Geetha Arts office, Allu Aravind said, "As we don’t want to disturb the fixed schedule and complete the film in time, we had decided to perform the marriage in February 2011." However, the producer denied the rumours that it is a love marriage. He said that the marriage has been arranged and proposed by the couple’s families.

The Dirty Picture (Hindi: द डर्टी पिक्चर) is an upcoming Bollywood biopic on the life of the South Indian movie siren Silk Smitha, directed by Milan Luthria !





What is it?

Balaji Productions and director Milan Luthria team up again after their smash hit, 'Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai', to create a humorous yet poignant entertainer, which is already in the news for being the most keenly anticipated musical drama of the year. Touted as a biopic on late South actress Silk Smitha, 'The Dirty Picture' has Vidya Balan playing the lead. She is supported by Naseruddin Shah, Emraan Hashmi and Tusshar Kapoor in pivotal roles.

The movie is written by Rajat Aroraa and produced by Ekta Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor. Music is by composer duo Vishal and Shekhar.

The Story Outline

Imagine a make-up girl who became an extra and then the most wanted heroine of the early 80s.
